WEST SOMERSET SCOUT FELLOWSHIP

Newsletter 23 –December 2008

Hello

Part of our remit as a Scout Fellowship is to support local scouting in West Somerset.

I have received the following email from Malcolm Hill GSL 1st Exmoor requesting our help.

“Reference fundraising activities.

Ist Exmoor have two events prior to Christmas where support from as many members of the Fellowship as possible would be gratefully appreciated. At both events we are looking for adults who can supervise the children.

The first event is Saturday 13th December which is a trolley push at Tescos Supermarket. The purpose of the trolley push is to raise money for the 1st Exmoor Scout Headquarters to pay for maintenance etc. The Scouts and Guides will be pushing trolleys from 9.00 am till 5.00 pm. We are mainly using older Scouts and Guides as they will be pushing trolleys across a busy car park but they will still need some supervision. We would not expect any members from the Fellowship to push trolleys. We would be extremely grateful for any assistance.

The second event will be a Bag Pack at the Co-op Supermarket on Saturday 20th December and Tuesday and Wednesday 23rd and 24th December. This Bag Pack is to raise money for the 1st Exmoor Scout Group. On the Saturday 20th December it will be mainly Cubs along with parents packing bags. We will be packing from 9.30 until 5.00 pm and adult supervisors from the Fellowship will be gratefully appreciated.

On Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th (same times as the Saturday) it will be the Scouts with some parents help who will be packing bags. Adult supervision on these two days will be important to ensure it is successful.

If you could kindly let me know as soon as possible those from Fellowship who can assist then I will be pleased to liaise with them.

Many Thanks

I am pleased to report that Terry Mote has returned safely after another trip to Everest Base camp and above. He told our local reporter that he could have probable gone to the top if he had had a better trainer! But that’s another story!

Finally it only remains to wish you and all your families a very Happy Christmas and a Healthy and Peaceful New Year.

Thank you all for your contributions to West Somerset Scouting in 2008.
