County Commissioner for Somerset.

I am delighted to advise you that Neil Slade has been appointed County Commissioner for Somerset with effect from the 1^st May 2009. Contact details for Neil will be sent nearer this date.

Neil has recently moved to Somerset and has previously been very active with Scouting in Cornwall where he has an excellent track record with various appointments, most recently as Assistant County Commissioner (Development).

Although Neil will not take over his new role until the 1^st May he is eager to get to know people within the County and will therefore be making himself known at various meetings and events. I know that Neil is looking forward to the challenge of leading such a dynamic county, especially after the excellent growth in numbers demonstrated by this years census.

I would like to put on record my thanks to Colina Hine for the excellent support that she has given Somerset as the Acting County Commissioner and I know that she is looking forward to reverting to her more normal role as Deputy County Commissioner under Neil’s guidance!

My thanks also go to every one of you for “getting on with the job”, whatever your role, whilst I have been sourcing a new County Commissioner. I thank you for your assistance in making this a relatively painless process.
