My Garden

I have often thought that when I bought
The garden yesterday
It would be mine and I could plan
To make it bright for play.
With flowers that bloom with wild perfume
And insects all galore
The seeds, the soil, the rain, the sun
A heaven more & more.
I’ll sit and read and contemplate
The movement of the sun
Its shadows move imperceptibly
And measure one by one.
I’ll build and batter, dig & sweat
To make the leaves to grow
But when I eat their lovely fruits
My how my heart will glow.
